We are committed to place defibrilllators to improve survival from cardiac arrests

Story

We tragically lost my father, Gareth Jones on 6th February suddenly in his sleep whilst we away on holiday in Ireland.  We currently do not know the cause of his death, however all signs currently point to sudden cardiac arrest.

The hotel we were staying in on the night of his death did not have a defibrillator and whilst we can't be certain this would have changed the outcome of the events of that evening, we want to help ensure another family doesn't have to go through the pain we suffered that night. We are choosing to raise money for AED in his memory to help fund defibrillators in local communities. Thank you.

Sudden cardiac arrest claims around 100,000 lives each year in the United Kingdom, with survival rates being around 5% - 10% outside of a hospital setting. If a person’s heart has stopped due to an accident or heart attack and is in a rhythm called ventricular fibrillation, the only way to get the heart into a more regular sustaining beat is to pass an electrical charge through the heart muscle. The first three to four minutes are the most vital for the collapsed person and, if Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and a DEFIBRILLATOR are available, then the chance of survival will increase considerably. Help us to make a difference in YOUR community.
