Story
One in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lives. At The University of Manchester, they're tackling the disease from all angles - from developing novel new treatments to finding ways to detect cancer earlier.
But in 2017, this life-saving research suffered a major setback. Manchester's cancer research centre - the Paterson building - was destroyed in a devastating fire. Hundreds of researchers were displaced to temporary labs across the region.
We are helping create a brand new cancer centre that's bigger and better than before. It will be a world-leading cancer centre twice the size of the old Paterson building. It will contain one of the largest concentrations of doctors, nurses and researchers in Europe. And it will pave the way for amazing discoveries that save lives around the world.
On the 22 September 2022, we will be holding a fundraising day at the Oglesby Cancer Research Building (OCRB) for Re-Write Cancer, where colleagues from across the MCRC partnership will be taking part in a cake sale and cycle relay challenge. You can buy cakes, vote for your favourite, and cheer on the cycle relay team as they work together to hit key distance targets.
Together we can make discoveries that will re-write the future and save countless lives. Please give now, and help create a world where many more people survive cancer.
