Story
Girls who don't attend school in this part of Uganda are at much greater risk of teenage pregnancy, early marriage and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). Lack of sanitary protection can lead to non-attendance due to potential embarrassment and shame. Providing kits to make reusable pads is a straightforward and practical way in which to help this situation.
Because when girls can stay at school, they can also carry on playing football, especially with the strong support of The Huracan Foundation.
And each kit costs around £5 to buy.
Denise Mirembe is a Project Leader for The Huracan Foundation and is the person at the heart of this campaign. Let's help Denise and in so doing, help try and keep young girls in education.
