Story
Turgut Meydan was a Reader in the Wolfson Centre for Magnetics and the Materials and Magnetics Research group within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Cardiff University. Turgut sadly passed away in August 2022, and in line with his wishes, he was buried in his home City of Ankara, Turkey.
Turgut began his career at Cardiff in July 1984, and for those of us who worked with him over the years, will be remembered as a valued colleague and friend, and for his enthusiasm and cheer.
Turgut was always keen to help others when they found themselves in difficulty, and in particular his students. He was always charismatic and good-humoured, and often the one to reassure students and staff during difficult periods. Over the past 10 years, Turgut organised the Magnetics Group Christmas dinner, strengthening social relations between academic staff and students. He also built a strong relationship between the Cardiff and other Magnetics groups worldwide and was a great presence and asset to the Magnetics community - he will be sorely missed.
Turget had a love for animals, so as a tribute, and in consultation with his family, we have arranged this JustGiving page for donations to Jackson's Animal Rescue Centre.
