Remembering Shane

It’s hard to believe that a whole year has gone by since the heartbreaking and incomprehensible sudden passing of my nephew. Shane was only 20 years old when, without warning, he suffered a fatal bleed to his brain. My devastated sister Vicky made the selfless decision of Shane becoming an organ donor and has since changed the lives of five critically ill patients.
The Donor Family Network is a registered charity and receives no government funding. The Network relies on fundraising and donations to continue with its work.
It is their mission to become the leading donor family charity in the transplant community by providing awareness of organ donation and through the highest quality support for every donor family. Their vision is to promote the positive benefits of organ and tissue donation for the families of those who have died and donated, for recipients and for those awaiting transplants.
January is my birthday month and there’s nothing in the world I’d like more than for my friends and family to donate to this charity in lieu of birthday gifts. Please support them in any way possible – every penny helps.
