Story
Peace and welcome to my page
I am supporting YMO in raising funds for villages in Gambia to provide access to clean water.
I will be walking/running 10km on Sunday 15th Oct.
I am raising funds in honour and memory of my late father Moulana Mohammad Abdus Salam رحم الله who passed away exactly a year ago. This loss still feels surreal.
He was an incredibly generous person, always helping others in need, monetarily and in other ways.
He was a dedicated Imam, teacher and mentor to many, a caring friend and most importantly to us - he was a devoted dad who cared so much about our learning, development and wellbeing. The kind of selflessness he underwent for us and others is unmatched.
Please mention him in your duas/prayers and kindly donate for the Water Aid Project, as a form of Sadaqa al-jaariya/ongoing charity-legacy for him, and for yourself.
Blessings and peace
Saleha

“This year we are back collaborating with the YMO Trust and their Water Aid Project in Gambia to provide clean, safe drinking water to thousands of villagers. Many remote villages in Gambia do not have reliable access to clean and safe water. Villagers travel long distances over harsh terrains to source water which is often contaminated. According to UNICEF 43% of water consumed by the population of Gambia is contaminated. This puts these communities at considerable risk from water borne diseases, on top of dehydration, leading to many lost lives. Borehole’s can provide a reliable source of clean and safe water. This basic human necessity provides a platform with long term benefits to the local population, farmland and animals. Access to safe and clean water for drinking, helps eradicate the risk of contracting water-borne disease. This empowers these communities to flourish, developing irrigation, farming capabilities and safe, healthy eating. YMO's vision is to provide 20 Boreholes in various deprived villages in and around the capital of Banjul, identified by our team on the ground, which are in urgent need of clean water. These 20 boreholes will provide water to over 17,000 villagers, their animals and farmland. YMO’s long term vision is to enable and empower the villagers to shape their futures through education and life skills. We will replicate our model of Education and Life skills that YMO have been providing successfully to children and adults in Bangladesh for since 2013.Please help us to fundraise for Gambia Water Aid Project to provide clean and safe water to thousands of villagers.
