My Mum, Kathy Kershaw, dedicated her career to support vulnerable children and families in Essex through her time as an English teacher at Heybridge Co-Operative Academy. She truly saw the good in everyone and was always so empathetic and passionate to everyone that she encountered during her time at the centre. 

Unfortunately Kathy passed away after a short and unexpected battle with cancer in November 2022. However, it is the not the cancer we want her to be remembered for, but instead the incredible work that she did whilst she was here. 

Since announcing her passing, we, the family have been inundated with messages of support from everyone she knew, including multiple ex pupil's who told us that still to this day they remember and openly speak about how much Mum helped them and the wonderful memories they have of her.

We have chosen Home Start as our charity as we believe it represents not only the values of the school but the values in which Mum embodied. We hope in her memory they can help even one family to become the best versions of themselves.
