Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It’s my barmitvah in July and whilst I practice hard to learn Hebrew and debate endlessly with my rabbi about the ethical and social side of faith I want to also use the process to give back in some way. I’ve decided on June 6th to host a ten hour ten-Athlon at my club Farm Walk. If you’d be kind enough to sponsor me all money raised will go to west london synagogue and their efforts to offer refuge, support and care to traumatised asylum seekers, many from civil war torn countries. All of whom turn up in london needing support to survive and thrive with a backdrop of dislocation, homelessness and poverty.
My great grandfather on one side was maimed and blinded fighting for the freedom for others and my other great grandfather was lucky to escape out of Nazi occupied Austria as a sponsored refugee.
Today I make an effort to contribute helping others years later effected by violent change in their own country and ending up as refuge in the UK.
