Rachel's Rachel's Mission to Malawi 2015

Rachel's Mission to Malawi 2015 · 15 August 2015
Ten people from a Wakefield Church – me included - will travel to Malawi for two weeks at the end of August 2015. The purpose for their trip is to engage in practical support for two Projects where Destiny Church Wakefield has been working for 20 years.
I will pay my own airfare and accommodation etc for this Mission. I am also committed to help raise funds to progress the two Projects that they will be working on.
WHY MALAWI?
Malawi is one of the poorest countries in Africa. The effects of HIV and the need for basic necessities are almost overwhelming. For twenty years Destiny Church Wakefield have been doing something to help by organising Mission Trips from the UK and raising funds to make a difference to the lives of hundreds of children and families through trusted relationships that Destiny has developed over the years.
1. DESTINY LUNCH-BOX & CHILDREN’S CENTRE
The main Project the 2015 Team will be involved with is to progress the construction of a simple, multi-function community building in a Malawian village.
A previous Team from Destiny began the building process in 2013 by laying the concrete foundations. Local Malawians then laid a concrete floor and structural pillars. Now this 2015 Mission Team will work on constructing the walls before roofing can begin. We work through trusted and Church related friendships.
This new building will house the ‘Destiny Lunch-Box and Children’s Centre’- a programme to provide a nutritious meal several days a week for about 150 local deprived children. The Centre will also give some basic free education for children from the village where there is no local school. It’s an exciting project!
This building will have a lasting legacy for many years and will be a place of hope and encouragement to hundreds of children in the village of Msogoja, near Limbe, Malawi.
2. DESTINY ORPHANAGE
One of the other Projects we will work with is ‘The Destiny Orphanage’, which previous Mission Teams from Wakefield helped to build in Blantyre. Over 20 children are now cared for in Destiny Orphanage - it’s a joy to see them enjoying the hope and health this loving home has brought.
The 2015 Team will help to develop the effectiveness of the Orphanage to provide the best care for these children. The Team will do some maintenance on the home and engage in sports activities with the children - inspiring them to believe and work for a better future.
This is a fantastic opportunity to ‘make a difference’ for these children who would otherwise have little expectation or hope for the days ahead in Malawi.
The 2015 Mission to Malawi and the Projects that are being progressed are something worth giving your time, energy and money to support - each Team member is doing just that.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
We ask you to join us in supporting this worthy venture.
● Could you give something to help us make a difference for these children?
We don’t need huge sums to make a difference in Africa. A gift of £100 or more goes a long way!
Each team member needs to raise their own fares, and we need to raise about £10,000 for this next phase of the Destiny Lunch-Box and Children’s Centre building work - and then we want to support the ongoing work of providing food for the children in the months and years to come.
As you give to this Project you will be making a difference for these poor children in Malawi.
OUR PROMISE
We confirm that money given will be used for the purpose for which it is given. Destiny Church Wakefield provides the administrative support so the money you give goes to support the Projects.
