Story
Maybe I'm crazy, or maybe I'm just adventurous. Either way, choosing to participate in a tandem Sky Dive has been a dream of mine for a long time. Deciding on a charity to support was more difficult a task.
As an animal lover and pet owner, I completely abhor animal cruelty, and it is an honour for me to help support the League Against Cruel Sports in my high-flying venture.
The League was founded in 1924, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year and campaigns against dog fighting, shooting, snaring, bullfighting, greyhound racing and trophy hunting.
The four key things the League strive to do are:
- Expose the barbaric nature of cruel sports and the people involved, and identify what action should be taken.
- Raise awareness and campaign for change by lobbying government, politicians and businesses. This includes campaigning for new laws and helping to enforce existing laws by working with the police to bring to justice those who commit illegal acts of cruelty for sport.
- Help people whose lives are being detrimentally affected by cruel sports and associated wildlife crime.
- Hold sanctuary land in heavily hunted areas to frustrate the perpetrators of cruelty and help protect animals who seek refuge on their land. They also hold the sporting rights to prevent cruel sports on land previously held.
