Story

What better way to celebrate 3 decades on this planet than by running the Great North Run for CUREUsher?

Catch me pounding the streets of Newcastle as I compete in the Elite Women’s half marathon race on Sunday 10th September, live on BBC one.

Goals for this race 🎯
Raise awareness and funds for CUREUsher- a charity close to my family’s hearts, in support of my cousin 💜
Smile for every step of the way (it’s more energy efficient ✌️)
Sub 80 minutes on the clock 😎 ⏰
Make family proud who are coming all the way up to cheer me on 🥰🖤 🤍

If you can support me in any way by: helping me to raise awareness or funds for CUREUsher; cheering me on in training runs 🏃‍♀️ wishing me luck 🍀 or cheering me on the TV as I try to keep up with some of the fastest girls in the world 😬🤦‍♀️😱 then it would mean the world to me.

A bit about Usher Syndrome… Usher syndrome affects over 400,00 people worldwide and is the leading cause of genetically inherited hearing and sight loss. It can also affect balance. For most people, hearing loss occurs from birth and their sight deteriorates as they get older. People with Usher syndrome are often diagnosed in childhood or early adolescence depending on the severity and type of the condition.

CUREUsher is a small charity with huge ambitions. There is currently no cure for Usher syndrome, but with more awareness, policy changes and funds for research this charity strives to CUREUsher syndrome and improve the quality of lives of those suffering.

Ways to get involved 🤩
Read up about Usher syndrome (more info can be found at https://www.cureusher.org (https://www.cureusher.org))
Donate- every penny makes a difference 🙏
Help us spread the word about Usher syndrome and this amazing charity. More awareness is needed 🗣️
Look out for red and white stripes on a mobility cane, and chequers on a dog’s harness. This means that the user has both vision impairment and hearing loss ❤️ 🤍
Be kind and offer help- you never know what someone is going through 🥰

Any help you can give will make a world of difference. 💜

Together we can CUREUsher syndrome 🙏  ❤️ 🤍 ❤️ 🤍

CUREUsher is a registered charity in England and Wales, number 1181293
