Story
I am taking on the challenge of not one, but two big events coming up this Autumn. First I am going to be training for and then running the Kew Gardens 10K on 6th September. Then, at the end of October I will be trekking across the Sahara Desert with a small group in order to raise money for TCT. The trek will be 8 days long walking 78km across the desert!!
I would love to raise as much money as possible for the charity because, as many of you may know, it is a charity that has helped me personally. Two years ago I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer, which was a massive shock and a huge disruption to my life (I was also in my first year at university in Bristol at the time). However, I am happy to say that today I have been in remission for two years, and I honestly don’t think I could have fought the battle against cancer without the help of this amazing charity!
During my treatment I spent some time on both an adult ward and one of the Teenage Cancer Trust Wards (in UCLH) and I can’t stress enough how different those experiences were!
Teenage Cancer Trust helps many young people diagnosed with cancer in the UK, by bringing them together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts, in the best place for them. I hope to raise money for the London TCT ward at UCLH, as currently they are working on modernising the ward, with a much needed refurbishment to improve the friendly stress free environment.
I am aiming to raise as much money as possible for the charity, but I must note a very small portion of the money I raise will go towards allowing me to participate in the trek itself. I would be very grateful for any support you can give, no matter how small a donation!
I would also like to raise awareness of cancer in teenagers and young people, so if you have time, please visit TCT’s website here: https://www.teenagecancertrust.org/
