Story
A brief introduction my name is Glen Mallen and I am the RNLI Lifeboat Training manager based at the RNLI college in Poole. I have also been an operational volunteer for 19 years and serve as a Helm and Coxswain at Poole Lifeboat station.
As a volunteer I appreciate the effort and time it takes to generate and raise the money that allows us to go to sea and save lives. As a training manager I and my team run a number of events to support this work and this year as it is Poole Lifeboat station’s 150 year celebration we are proposing to run an ‘open’ paddle the 6 mile round trip around Brownsea Island
In support of Poole Lifeboat stations 150th year it is hoped to have 150 people or 150 kayaks (dependant on take up) involved
Paddle for Pounds 2015 will start at the RNLI college on the 11th July 2015 with a planned rest break on the Southside of Brownsea Island for a spot of packed lunch (not supplied). Before returning on the tide to the RNLI college for around 16.30 for a cash BBQ to raise more money for Poole Lifeboat.
This will be a fun, family, club day out!
