We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Hi folks,

Well, I've finally proven my over-enthusiasm for exercise by joining a race.

Julie, Michelle, Rosie and I are running the race for life in Nottingham but I'm not doing this for free.

Someone other than me will benefit from my exersions because I'm trying to raise sponsor money for the race to go towards cancer research.

So thank you for visiting my Race for Life fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Events like Race for Life are an important way in which Cancer Research UK is able to fund its life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me now you could help more people survive cancer.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me - Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Sharon Fennell.

Well the race was awesome!

The marshals were great with their encouragement on the way round (I think the geese were trying to encourage us in their own way too), and apparently that day over 2 races about 7000 women ran, and if everyone got £100 sponsorship that's £700,000 for cancer research. If everyone added gift-aid that's almost £900,000.

Everyone in the group set a respectable time, (though I finished last of the 5 of us) after 3km my knee hurt a little so I did walk for a large chunk of the course. Managed to jog over the finish line though. My mum came with us and took photos and some mobile phone video. If we find a lead to hook her phone up to the computer I shall try and put the video online somewhere.

We all celebrated with a nice ice cream and after my sunday lunch and washing my car I spent the rest of my sunday chilling.

We all got a nice shiney medal and I wore mine for the last 2 days at work. ^_^

Thanks for all your sponsorship, We've smashed my target and I think everyone felt it has been worth it.

You're awesome for having donated and perhaps next year we shall try this again.

*hugs*
