This trip would be the next key step in my journey as a student. I am raising money for this trip because traveling is the greatest way to gain a new perspective. Today, many companies and news channels create illusions of other places around the world, and also hide the things that are really going on. I believe that it is extremely important to gain perspective right at the source with your experience.

 Conversing with the teens in Africa allows both Wisconsinites and Gambians to trade knowledge in order to get a greater perspective on the world. I am also excited to immerse myself with a culture from a different country than mine; How the food tastes, how the music plays, how the people dance, how the clothes are patterned, I’m excited for it all. 

Lastly, I am thrilled to socialize with people from a different culture. People have hundreds of stories that they share with others, but I’m eager to hear stories from people that are of a different country, even from a different continent. I’m excited to greet, ask questions, say where I’m from, find things in common, and just overall learn.
