Story
This is the second year of our festival to celebrate the arts in Putney. It will unite communities and support musicians, performers and artists in the wake of the pandemic. As an annual event it will bring together our diverse communities through music, theatre, poetry, film, visual art and much, much more… This year, we need to raise at least £18,000 to put on our festival programme of over 14 opera performances, workshops, acrobatic theatre, competitions and music marathons!
Our aim is for as many events as possible to be free or heavily subsidised so that they are accessible to as many local people as possible. The money will pay for staging, lighting, artists’ fees, marketing, website costs, and all the other things that go into putting on an incredible lineup of events. All your donations will be put into a restricted fund within St Margaret’s, Putney, which publishes their accounts annually.
Planned events include:
- Performance of La Bohème with international soloists and community children's and adult chorus
- Lifted! A performance and workshop by female-led acrobatic group, Mimbre!
- Internet Sensation Mini Music Makers with an early years musical extravaganza
- Putney 12hr Music Marathon (all welcome to participate, email PutneyFestival@gmail.com for more info)
- A Young Musician's Competition highlighting the dedication and talents of our local young people
- Come and Sing the Messiah with eminent conductor Hilary Davan Wetton
Please, if you are able, give generously. Every penny really does count. No donation is too small.
If you are feeling particularly generous and would like to become a 'Friend of Putney Festival' we would love to hear from you. The minimum donation to become a 'Friend' is £100.
With your help, this festival will grow and become an annual extravaganza. If you don’t have a penny to spare, we’d be so grateful if you could share this link on social media, to get the word out and get this awesome festival funded! We’re also looking for volunteers to help run our events as covid marshalls and ushers. If you are passionate about live music, art and dance, please get in contact as we’d love to hear from you.
