The coronavirus crisis is such a difficult and unprecedented time for our whole global family, but we are determined to ensure no one is beyond the reach of the support they need to survive and thrive.

Story

You  had generously donated £4,285 to CAFOD's Coronavirus Appeal to which you added £70 given for the Harvest Fast Day appeal. We are now continuing to support CAFOD's work helping the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world in the face of this deadly Covid 19 virus.

Our community are deeply thankful to the NHS. We are also acutely aware that our brothers and sisters across the world are not so fortunate, and are exposed to great peril with Coronavirus in countries where health systems are fragile, and there are virtually no intensive care beds, or ventilators. Our hearts go out to the poorest people on earth, people living in refugee camps and shanty towns for whom regular hand-washing is very difficult and social distancing, almost impossible, and to daily wage earners, whose income disappears when lockdowns are enforced and when factories close, so that starvation becomes a real danger.

The funds we raise with your amazing support will save the lives and livelihoods of so many people. Here are some ideas as to what your money can buy:

  • £6 can buy a hygiene package for a family containing soap, washing powder and reusable face masks.
  • £11.33 can buy text books, exercise books and pencils for a child to continue their education at home.
  • £51.63 can provide a farmer with basic tools and seeds  to enable them to earn a living throughout the Coronavirus outbreak
  • £80.45 can buy an infrared thermometer so a fever can be detected from a safe distance.
  • £126.75 can buy full PPE personal protective equipment for a nurse or doctor at a health clinic.
  • £260 can broadcast a 30-second radio advert sharing news about coronavirus with isolated communities.
  • £2478.24 can dig a well to ensure a community has a supply of safe water for drinking and handwashing

Thanks very much for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and for your donation.

Please remember to pray for our brothers and sisters in developing countries that they survive COVID-19.
