Story
Throughout lent this year 40 days for life will be holding what they refer to as a vigil outside the BPAS clinic in Stapleford. In reality this is an anti choice demonstration which will take place over 40 days for 12 hours each day. These demonstrations have been shown to cause distress to people using clinics and people affected have reported feeling harassed and intimidated by their presence.
Unfortunately there is currently no national legislation preventing these demonstrations and although a small number of clinics have successfully used provisions such as Public Space Protection Orders to remove these demonstrations from their doorsteps, these provisions do not go far enough and are difficult to access.
We are asking people to "sponsor" 40 days for life throughout their vigil, from 26th February to 5th April, with all donations going to BPAS, who are campaigning for national buffer zone legislation.
50 years ago the Abortion Act 1967 was passed giving British women access to safe legal abortion, yet today we still face persistent attempts to chip away at women's reproductive rights, to limit women's options and choices.bpas fight every day to provide women with safe, accessible abortion services, and campaign to ensure women can make their own decisions about their own pregnancies. But we need your help to keep doing this.Your money will be supporting our campaign work and helping women access the care they need.Thank you
