Story
Kind-hearted staff and learners at Preston’s College have come together to support their local community by fundraising for local foodbanks.
The College has joined the national ‘FE Foodbank Friday’ campaign,
which is seeing FE organisations around the country coming together to raise money for community foodbanks. Many foodbanks are seeing a decline in donations at this challenging time and are in need of additional support.
Preston’s College plan to support a variety of organisations, with local charity, Luv Preston, the first recipient.
A key part of Luv Preston’s role is to provide weekly, home delivery food parcels to those in need of emergency food provisions, in the PR1 and PR2 areas, whilst also supporting individuals to access key services across the city.
The recent global Coronavirus pandemic has seen the charity’s day-to-day requests rise by 400%, meaning now, more than ever, the charity needs help, to allow them to continue providing much needed provisions to Preston’s most vulnerable residents.
