Story

What is the Plaxtol Village Pumpkin Carving Competition?

In aid of the Plaxtol Primary School, this is a virtual event that lets you show off your pumpkin carving skills!

How do I enter my pumpkin into the show?

Entries are open until midnight Saturday 31st October 2020. Entry donations are £3 and must be made on this page. Once you have donated, you will receive an email address to send us your pumpkin, along with your team name and age group (0-6, 7-11, 12-17, or 18+ years), and a spooky name or scary caption (if you dare!). By entering the competition, you are giving us permission to upload the photo of your pumpkin to our facebook page. No names or other details will be published with any of the photos.

How will the winners be decided?

Once entries have closed, voting will start! We will upload all the photos to our facebook page, and ask people to vote for the spookiest pumpkin. Voting will run from Sun 1st November to 6pm on Sat 7th November, and the winners will be announced on Mon 9th November. We will award first and second for each age category. Each will receive a prize, and we will contact the owners to let them know and arrange for them to collect their winnings!

Where will the money raised go to?

All money raised will go to the Plaxtol School Association. Sadly, school are unable to run our usual fireworks event this year, which usually raises £3500. This will have a big impact on the money available to help support the school during this academic year.

Some of the items we need to buy include new dictionaries for our classrooms, tablets for use with educational games and software to support children in class and at home, and taps and sinks for our playground to make hand washing easier!

Any support you can give will be greatly appreciated!!
