Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Friday, 2nd September 2016, you are invited to join us on our annual charity cycle.

This year, we will be cycling approximately 80 miles, starting from our Belfast office, heading out  to Comber, and down the inside of the peninsula toStrangford.  We will then cross the lough to Portaferry, and head for the outside of the peninsula, cycling up to Millisle, before turning back inland to Newtownards and back into Belfast.  The full route can be viewed here.

The aim of this years annual cycle is to raise money for the following charity:

We supported Fields of Life last year and raised over £5,000, which was specifically donated for the purpose of constructing a new water well. As a result of this amazing generosity, the water well was completed on 09 September 2015 and was built for a community called Bupadoi, located in Kanginima SubCounty, Eastern Uganda.

This year, we are again raising money for Fields of Life, to support a projectcalled “Kkwale Primary School”, located in Luwero, Central Uganda.

Fields of Life constructed a school there in 2013, and it is located in a very remote region of the country. As part of their gender equality programme called “I AM GIRL”, they are trying to support girls education, and keep them at school rather than being forced into early marriage and / or pregnancy. Part of this programme is to construct a dormitory that houses up to 100 girls, who can then stay at school which not only significantly increases completion rates, but also keeps girls safe from attack and gender based and sexual violence. The cost of this dormitory is about £30,000.00, and we hope to raise a significant contribution toward the cost of this project.”
