Story
On 13th March 2010, thirteen years after our last child, Elaine and I had a surprise addition to our family. This came as a bit of shock as we were told all those years ago, after four beautiful children, that we could no longer have any more.
For me, Tommy's arrival was a huge wake up call. Being in my early 40's and overweight, I knew I had to take action. I started running because I wanted to be healthier and fitter so I could be there for our little miracle. So far I have lost over '2 Stone' in just over a year. Losing the weight has allowed me to keep fit and keep up with my active and boisterous 2 1/2 year old son.
After achieving my first goal, I needed a new challenge. I can't think of anything more rewarding than running for a great cause. So I have chosen to run The Birmingham half marathon for Acorns charity.
Tommy has reminded us of the joy a small child can bring to a family home, I can think of no better cause than one which provides support for sick children and their families. No donation is too small. Thanks for looking!
