Story
For those of you who may not be aware my dad lost his battle with cancer on May 4th. During an extremely long and difficult four and a half year journey he was helped by many people, everyone of these people from carers, nurses, doctors, family and friends will forever have a place in mine and my family’s hearts. We thought it fitting as a tribute to my dad to try and give a little back.
My dad had a habit of making a huge impression on people. Whether you knew him well or only a little the chances are his impact on you would have left you with a smile, a laugh, a new nickname, a song of your very own, a few pints of lager or at the very least advice on how to do some DIY in 10 minutes that would take a lesser mortal than my dad a few hours or days.
The Woodlands Hospice really helped my dad and the family come to terms with his illness. The wonderful staff at the hospice; many of whom are volunteers, do the most amazing job. Everything the Woodlands does is funded through charitable donations. We (my dad and the family) really want to raise as much as possible for them.
Nothing sends your heart felt condolences better than flowers or a card. However, Instead of flowers and cards for the funeral please send few pounds to the Woodlands. This really will mean the world to us. My dad will be sorely missed by us all, if we raise enough we’ll be getting a memorial in the hospice in his name.
