CRMI Scafell Pike Charity Walk · 18 September 2018
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In conjunction with some generous and big hearted colleagues from Nationwide Building Society I'm raising money by walking up Scafell Pike (the highest mountain in England) to build a new much needed classroom block at Salvation Way Primary School in Bombo, Uganda. Bombo is one of the poorest areas in Uganda.
CRMI opened this school in 2015 and it is already bulging at the seams.
These children have big dreams, ambitions (and smiles) but they don't have something we can help to give them - a start in life.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” (Nelson Mandela)
Education holds the key to a better future. A school provides a hub and facilities for the community and since the school opened changes have been evident. Parents are learning English from their children and we have seen a little boy using the wall of his house and piece of chalk to teach his older brother to read.
Any contribution you can make will be wisely spent on this project and very much appreciated.
For me, walking up Scafell Pike will be one of the hardest things I've ever done (I'm not really built for speed or going up steep mountains) but I believe passionately in this cause and have seen for myself on my visits to Uganda the transformation a good education can bring to individuals, families and communities.
