Story
Scotland is facing a loneliness epidemic affecting over a million people.
Our Community Kitchen (OCK) is a Registered Charity that exists to reduce loneliness and social isolation in the community by bringing people together around a large table to eat hearty fresh food, by organising fun activities such as accessible bus and bike tours and by bringing the ages together to plant, grow and cook outside in our community garden.
Bringing people together to form friendships around food and activities in a warm friendly environment improves health and wellbeing.
GPs, hospitals & local agencies who know the most vulnerable in our local community refer people to us, but we know that many people who would benefit greatly from being with us are unable to come along due to accessibility problems and it breaks our hearts we can’t do more.
That’s why we've set ourselves a truly massive challenge to try and raise enough money to buy an accessible minibus so we can reach out into the surrounding isolated areas to bring people in to benefit from a hot nutritious meal, a warm environment, good company and activities.
We are heading towards a massive cost of living increase and the heat or eat scenario will be real for so many!
We aim to make a huge difference to peoples lives and any support you could provide towards this mini bus would be truly amazing and life changing...
