Story
Running.......is really not my thing but anything I can do to raise money for St Catherines hospice is worth the pain in my book.
3rd June this year I lost my Dad to lung cancer, this has been a real blow to me and my family and I'm still struggling to come to terms with not having him around.
When Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer his health went down hill at a staggering rate. My Mum did a fantastic job of caring for him at home but when it became too much for her St Catherines became extremely supportive. They visited them both at home for the first couple of weeks always happy and more supportive than I could have imagined. The day came when Dad was no longer able to stay at home and he was admitted into St Catherines hospice. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with but all the staff were so lovely and the hospice itself has a very tranquil environment that made spending the last 2 days with my Dad more bearable.
It was the worst time of my life and I still deeply miss him but I can't thank St Catherines enough for all that they have done.
I couldn't believe it when one of the nurses told me that they rely almost entirely on proceeds raised from charity fundraising and it made me feel that I had to do something even if it only makes a small dent on the money they need.
There is another reason for commiting myself to the run, and that was to make sure that I'm in shape for my wedding which is less than 2 weeks after the run. My man, Steve, managed to ask my Dad they day he passed away and so to ensure my Dad is a part of it we have decided to get married on his birthday.
Please give generously for this fantastic cause and I will promise to make a massive effort to try and run all the way.
During the run my thoughts will be with all those that have sponsered me, St Catherine's Hospice and most of all my Dad.
Thank you so much for your support.
