Story
Middle aged mums don't normally have all their long hair cut off for charity but this served a dual purpose.
The hair was long enough to provide 12 inch bunches to make wigs for children on Chemo for "the Little Princess Trust" after being cut by Melissa at Missy Bee's in Stone, Staffordshire. (+44 77081 22256); and was time-lapse filmed.
Mesothelioma is a rare incurable form of cancer affecting the lining of the lung, years after inhaling asbestos fibres.
About 40 years ago my father worked with asbestos in of St Richards' Hospital, where ironically, they subsequently diagnosed and battled to slow his Mesothelioma. Dad died just over a year ago. He prided himself on his fitness, had a physical job, didn't drink and gave up smoking in 1963. Eternally optimistic, and not letting on to the family, "He wasn't going to be beaten". Yet he withered, shrank and became crippled by pain and difficulty breathing
Please spare what pennies you can at this difficult time, but more importantly please warn others about the dangers of asbestos and this pernicious disease.
