Story
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! for each and every penny that you've given. And thank you for all the good wishes and support I've received.
I did it! And survived to tell the tale!
It's been 10yrs since my wife Joanne lost her battle with Breast Cancer and was tragically taken from us all, far, far, too young. This achievement was a fitting way to remember what a wonderful person she was; the way she battled and suffered with dignity; that she was never defined by cancer, remaining the special person she was.
To mark this anniversary, I rode 470 miles to London. Through some terrible weather, over the Lake District, along terrifying A Roads and everyday I just kept pedalling. Suffering was always pale in comparison to what others, including Joanne, have gone through.
To finish off by riding the challenging London Surrey 100 mile sportive in horrific conditions, over flooded roads and through gusting winds, was the most difficult victory lap ever, but was truly a celebration of my achievement and of Joanne's life.
MacMillan is a charity close to my heart as my mum, dad, and aunt are all cancer survivors, and having lost my wife Joanne, I'm so proud to have raised valuable funds to support those battling cancer, as well as their families.
