Story

Local Preacher in the Dane and Trent Methodist Circuit Annie Roebuck, and her husband Paul are planning a challenge this year to make even the strongest think twice....”A few years ago I read a humorous account of a bike trip from Lands End to John O’ Groats , and got a bit caught up in the fun side of it and suggested to Paul that we attempted it!” said Annie. “Then last year my nephew and his wife laid down the gauntlet by doing it first”

Paul and Annie are busy planning the trip on their tandem stopping off en-route at friends, family, and anyone who will give them a bed for the night. “We plan to do 50 miles a day, so it will take us nearly 3 weeks-it is 960 miles! We are doing it on behalf of two charities, Christian Relief Uganda (of which Paul is the treasurer) and The Methodist Relief Development Fund. We’d love to raise at least £1000 for each Charity”

The Roebuck Tandem Tour is from Thursday 15 May to Tuesday 3 June 2014, starting at Lands End heading to John O’ Groats  via Exeter, Bristol, Rugby, Macclesfield, Warrington, Carlisle, Edinburgh and Inverness, and other places in between.

“We need your encouragement, prayers, and sponsorship, or donations!”

“If you see us around the area training on our tandem, give us a wide berth, and wish us well!”
