Story
Daniel Wilkinson and Liam Hill have set themselves the ambitious goal of cycling from Grimsby’s Dock Tower in North East Lincolnshire to Venice’s St Mark’s Bell Tower to raise money for the AMMF, the Cholangiocarcinoma Charity, in memory of Paul Wilkinson (Daniel’s brother and Liam’s cousin).
Paul, after being diagnosed in February 2012 with Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer), a rare form of Cancer, tragically lost his battle on 16th December 2012.
Daniel’s and Liam’s cycling adventure begins on September 7th 2013 when they leave Grimsby’s Dock Tower heading out for Hull docks from where they will take a boat to Zeebrugge in Belgium. Assisted by Leigh and Sean Wilkinson, Daniel and Liam will then cycle over 900 miles through Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Switzerland, over the Alps into Italy, finally arriving under St. Mark’s Bell Tower in Venice on September 19 2013, uniting the two towers.
You think that cancer will never strike one of your own loved ones, so having this happen to Paul was truly devastating. Paul was a huge personality and was dearly loved by his wife Mandy, his two children William and Chloe, family, friends and work colleagues. He was passionately proud of his family and home and he lit up the lives of the people who knew him.
All money raised will go towards the AMMF (Alan Morement Memorial Fund, www.ammf.org.uk) Charity which is dedicated to raising awareness, providing information and supporting research into the causes of CC, better diagnostic tests and more effective treatments for this devastating disease.
All donations will be gratefully received and will go to the AMMF Charity.
Thank you.
