Story
Pushing against all the rules of motion and gravity, I have decided to run my first [ and last ] marathon in New York on 3 November. Training has been really tough and there have been moments recently where I have nearly given up. However, if you would please read on you will realise that failing to get over the finishing line is now not an option.
On the 3rd of September, Natalia Bergier died unexpectedly. She was 31. The only child of George Bergier, who many of you will know as Manchesters charismatic sommelier, Natalia was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the out. The many people who knew her have described her as warm, infectious, selfless and funny and sharing the same love of life as her dad. I only met her on a couple of occasions but she stood out as a truly wonderful young lady.
I am now running in New York for Francis House Childrens Hospice, a charity that Natalia was fond of. I know that all donations received, no matter how small, will mean a lot to George, Barbara and the rest of the family.
I will now finish if I have to crawl the last couple of miles….a definite possibility !
Thanks for your support.
