Story
I have been training extremely hard for this event. I would like to run the marathon in under three and a half hours. I have been running over 10 miles three times a week as well as a long-distance run at the weekends. My last run on Sunday was 22 miles and I felt every step of the way. This training is also taking me away from my family at the weekends. So it is not just physically hard training its mentally as well. I would be very grateful just to raise a few hundred pounds for my chosen charity. Please help Paul.
I would like to say thank you to all the people who have donated money to the just giving website to raise money for the East Lancs Women's Refuge. The website will be open for another three months if you haven't at this point donated any money to this great cause.
The Edinburgh Marathon was a little tougher than I expected. In Scotland the weather is usually quite cool, but today it was scorching hot. I started the race at 09:50 and the sun was already blazing, by around about 12 o'clock at the 18 to 20 miles part of the race it felt unbearable and my feet were starting to blister off the heat off the road, but I still cracked on at an average pace off 07:30 minute miles. When I reached the 21 mile marker my body struggled to keep up the pace. The last 4 to 5 miles I slowed right down, hoping to make it to the end. My last mile felt like it was the longest mile of my life. I was the happiest man in the world when I finished.
