Story
Thank youfor taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This month I will celebrate my 60th birthday. I am delighted to be able to do so, because almost 3 years ago now, I was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus.
It's been quite a journey, however to cut a long story short, almost 2 1/2 years post surgery I lead a very full and active life, feel great, and enjoy every moment of my retirement. As with most things in life, there are no guarantees, but at this stage, I have good reason to be optimistic for the future.
I was extremely lucky in that my diagnosis was made at a very early stage. This is a critical factor in improving patient outcomes for sufferers of oesophago - gastric cancer, (cancer of the oesophagus and / or stomach), the incidences of which are increasing year on year.
Through my experience I have become involved with OGCancerNI. We are a relatively new charity, comprised of past patients, carers and medical professionals all firmly dedicated to supporting patients and carers affected by oesophago - gastric cancer, promoting the early signs and symptoms of the disease, and working in partnership with healthcare providers in Northern Ireland to be the patients advocate and promote the best possible outcomes for sufferers.
So, in celebration of my 60th, I am seeking donations to this extremely worthwhile cause which has become very important to me. Your donations will help to raise awareness of oesophago - gastric cancer in Northern Ireland, and help us improve the lives of sufferers and their families.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
