Story
Carolann, myself and friends will be running the Bupa Great Women's 10k in Glasgow on the 11th May 2014. Our reason for selecting Core charity is Carolann's Daughter, my Goddaughter Martine Fee sadly passed away on November 30th 2013 from a series of infections and damage to her gut, bowel, pancreas and liver. This charity leads the fight against all diseases of the gut, liver and pancreas.
Martine was age 20 when she unfortunatley passed away. She was engaged to be married and has a little boy Oliver age 1. Martine was a fun, happy and a kind warm-hearted girl who was a wonderful mum. She was beginning a new chapter in her life with her fiancé Colin and baby Oliver when she suddenly took ill. The following nine weeks Martine fought for her life in the Southern General Hospital, Intensive Care Unit and lost her battle from this tragic illness. During this time Martine's had to go through life saving surgery. She was heavily sedated most of the time and had several drains inserted into her abdomen to flush infections, she was on kidney dialysis and was on a ventilator to assist with her breathing.
Carolann and I are hoping that by donating funds to Core charity will help contribute to research into these life threatening diseases to prevent this affecting lives of others in the future.
