Birmingham Hospice offers specialist palliative and end of life care for those with a terminal illness. Whether at home, in the community or at our hospices, we help people live well, with dignity, and make the most of every moment they have left.

Story

"There in our darkest hours, when we needed them the most to offer care and dignity until the very end". That's exactly what the Birmingham (John Taylor) Hospice offered to my Dad, Pat, as he battled cancer and sadly passed away in October last year.

Dad was slight in stature but big on wit and was never short of a smart word or two as many of you will know all too well. True to form he kept this up until the very end and was still able to crack a joke, despite becoming gradually worse after eventually being diagnosed with throat cancer in mid 2022.

Cancer will touch so many people's lives until we finally beat it (that day will come eventually!) but places like the Birmingham Hospice offer unbelievable care both at home and in the hospice and we truly would have been lost without them.

They are a small organisation that rely heavily on donations to support people with end of life care. From our first contact with the community nurse Alison to the staff nurse Tony who helped dad during his final days, the whole team there all helped when we needed it most.

If you can spare a donation to support the hospice so others can receive the care and dignity we did, I'd be forever grateful.

It will be pretty much exactly 6 months since Dad passed away when I do pound the streets of Manchester on 16th April but knowing it will help others will make it all worthwhile.

Thank you

Garry
