Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for the Young Musician’s Fund, for the Community foundation.

Everyone who knew Wilf will know that he had a life long love of music which started as a teenager with his first guitar.  He has written hundreds of songs about the local area and beyond, many of which have been recorded and are now available to stream.

As children Wilf took us, Pamela and Julia, to music lessons and sessions around the North East to enable us to develop ourselves as musicians.  In the early days these sessions were hosted by Folkworks and later we were members of the Tyneside Irish Centre.

We have chosen this charity as music continued to play an important part of Wilf’s life right up until he recently passed away.  We hope this fundraising page will help more youngsters to be able to access musical activities as we were fortunate to be able to do.

Julia has recently been writing a blog to keep Wilf’s music alive and give some background to his songs.  This can be found at www.mitfordmusic.net
