As of the 24th of June we have got our £1000 target! Thanks to all that have donated so far. With the money going to such a fantastic cause, we have decided to extend the target to £1,250.

Virtual PSL -> 100VE -> PSL.

17 Members, 384 Miles, One Week.

Helping the local community can prove difficult at the moment given the current climate. However, the PSL South Wing CD IT team are determined to make a difference.

Collectively, we are travelling the equivalent distance from the historic Port Sunlight village to the UL Head Quarters in London and back again in 8 days!

15 of the team have signed up and agreed to walk/jog/run/cycle a total of 384 miles (~618KM) over an 8 day period.

After a long discussion about where the proceeds should be donated, we collectively decided that 100% of the sponsorship will be donated to Wirral Mind. The charity supports the local community by providing care and support to people with learning disabilities and mental health needs.

Why Port Sunlight to Unilever House?

The Port Sunlight village was founded by ‘Soap King’ William Hesketh Lever in 1888 and has remained largely intact since its foundation. Lord Lever built Port Sunlight to house the workers at his soap factory, Lever Brothers - the company you now may know as Unilever.

Rather than sharing the profits of the company directly with his employees, Lever provided employees with decent and affordable houses, amenities and welfare provisions that made their lives secure and comfortable and enabled them to flourish as people.

What about in 2020? Well, whilst part of the factory has been repurposed for office space, there remains 4 factories fully operational - even during lock down!

And Unilever House (100VE)? It's the Unilever Head Office!
