We raise funds for The National Hospital to improve the lives of neurology patients

Story

As many of you will know, we were incredibly shocked during 2021 to learn of Gemma's illness. This is something that we continue to get used to as a family.

PCA is so so rare and Gem could not have been more unfortunate in coming head to head with such an affliction at such a young age.

There are great challenges in the here and now and there are few days that are straight forward, but for the most part Gemma's kind nature prevails.

The 10th June 2023 will be a family day to acknowledge the enormity of Gemma's condition and to spread awareness of PCA. We will meet at home before going on a walk for a couple of hours, before finding a spot for a few ales and then a BBQ back at Higher Brownhill.

PCA is currently not a treatable condition. The charity we are raising money for is the Brain Appeal. This charity directly supports RDS (Rare Dementia Support) who are the main organisation that Gemma and others with rare dementia types, can lean on for support.

About the charity

There are 14.7million people – that’s more than one in six – in the UK living with a neurological condition. Here at the country's leading neurological centre, we’re passionate about supporting the hospital to help improve the lives of patients through treatment and research.
