Hi Guys it's Ozzie!
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving fundraising page.
I'm SOOO happy and excited that I was offered a place on the ICS programme!!
From 1st October to 10th December 2015, I volunteered abroad in Senegal with Y Care International. They are an International Development charity and 1 of 12 partnering agencies of the ICS Programme. In order for me to volunteer abroad though, I needed to raise a minimum £800 for Y Care International to earn a place on this placement and really glad that I did with the kind donations and support of my friends, family and amazing teachers from my old college 😁
This £800 amount was NOT to cover the costs of my trip, it was a contribution towards Y Care's ICS programme so that they can continue running this programme for many years to come and continue to offer this opportunity for other people just like me in the UK. We as volunteers will contribute towards the sustainable projects that Y Care have already started in the deprived communities they operate in, and through my fundraising, it can ensure that more volunteers can get involved in tackling extreme poverty and create positive changes in these poor and disadvantaged communities.
Y Care International works with some of the most marginalised and vulnerable young people in over 20 countries in the world . The work Y Care do combats root causes of poverty and social injustice for these young people with the objective to empower these young people to grow and to climb out of their poverty and injustice and lead a sustainable livelihood. This is my opportunity to contribute my efforts in Senegal to ensure that some of their voices are heard and to continue creating a long-lasting, positive impact in their lives.
Regarding the fundraising activities, I took part in Living Below The Line! Living on £1 a day for 5 days from Monday 10th to Friday 14th August and you can see photos of it on here.
As part of my placement abroad, I write blogs and shared stories about my experience in Senegal and I hope you guys will see and understand how your generous donations has helped Y Care achieve. This is such a great cause and that I was really passionate about taking part in.
After returning home from my placement, I took part in a few events and presentations as part of my Action at Home project, which included a college presentation on international volunteering in April 2016 and representing Y Care International and the ICS Programme at the Muslim Lifestyle Show in May 2016.
Mucho amor :)
