Story
It can happen to any of us...any time…in a heartbeat: the loss of a limb
Plse read my story & challenge below, or watch on video here:
STORY: As we all know, we don't tend to appreciate something until its gone .. as lockdown showed us in many areas of our lives…how much we take for granted.
This is so true when it comes to our health, and more specifically, the use of a limb. Unfortunately, I find myself in this predicament!
Some friends wrote on my cast ‘This is only temporary’ and ‘This too shall pass’. BUT what if it wasn’t? What about those who lose a limb for life?
So I want to raise money for charity that helps people cope and rehabilitate from lost limbs. At the same time i’d love to help those who find themselves one-handed, by getting tips on how to do some things.
I also want to make this fun! So HERE'S MY ONE-ARM CHALLENGE TO YOU:
Complete one of the following, and then challenge someone else. Ideally video it, or write about it, & upload below.
This is all to be done with one hand, AND with the one you
DON’T normally use. Ie., if, like myself, you’re right-handed then use your
left hand only. I suggest making a sling from a tie, a scarf, 2
cloths/tea-towels tied together etc to make sure you dont use that hand. Ok?
CHOOSE TASK OR TIME:
- TASK: Complete a task..any task – you choose
- TIME: Use your one ‘wrong’ hand for a certain
amt of time; 30mins, 1hr, or if longer, challenge someone your beat your time
Even if you don’t do the challenge, plse donate to help ease the trauma and difficulties that those who lose a limb have to face everyday for the rest of their lives. Your donation goes straight to the charity.
I chose the Limbless Association because it’s a well-established, nationwide charity offering a full range of services and resources for
individuals of any age with limb loss, and also for their family. And its
linked with other charities and services incl the NHS Disability Centers.
PLEASE do share this around and help others to help themselves! THANK YOU!
