Story
Thank you for visiting the page dedicated to Angelito Palacio Corral. His larger than life personality was taken too soon, succumbing to a very aggressive type of cancer called Multiple Myeloma. It is a cancer of the plasma cells, which is a type of white blood cell that produces antibodies.
Angelito was a remarkable man, who showed relentless love with his willingness to always serve people. From the day he stepped foot in Melbourne more than 30 years ago, he dedicated his life to providing an abundance of food, a warm home and never ending care to his young family. Such a dedication also spread back home in the Philippines as he also provided as much care and support whenever he could to his siblings, nephews and nieces.
Angelito was always a funny man, the joker in the family. Spreading humour since childhood, his siblings fittingly nicknamed him “OmPong”, after a renowned Filipino comedian. And his humour always spread joy to those close to him. As an example of his quirky sense of humour, he would always say he wanted to direct his own movie with a zero budget and no plot titled “the return of the never coming back”, where he’d be the only actor playing all character roles. This odd but unique title would become the password to the home WiFi. Another was his warning that taking too many group photos may result in everyone exchanging faces.
The one joy that gave Angelito the most happiness was family. At a young age, he formed a unique and endearing relationship with his sister, Gloria and his brother, Jaime. This relationship was strong for so long, despite all living in 3 different continents. He was a father figure rather than uncle to his nieces and nephews, and was blessed to see and spend time with their kids. And lastly, he was a caring husband to his wonderful wife of 40 plus years, a loving and supportive father to 4 kids who simply adored him and a joyful grandfather to 5 grandkids who actually enjoyed his humour.
To honour and celebrate the life of this wonderful man, please donate any amount to the Leukaemia Foundation. This is a great foundation that is dedicated to the care & cure of patients and families living with blood cancer. When you donate, we encourage you to leave a message in the form of a joke in Angelito’s honour.
