Fundraising target £1,300
THE CHALLENGE
This is a bit of a plea from me to as many of you as possible to join me on this 'fun' little challenge.
You may or may not know that my Grandma, someone who I love with all my heart, has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Breast Cancer. Her health has deteriorated so quickly within the last 6 months that I wanted to do something to help fight this terrible disease. As her battle begins to draw to a close what better way to celebrate her memory (and my birthday!!!) than to cycle to Brussels?!!!!!
One in three people over 65 will die with dementia. The Alzheimer’s Society research shows that 800,000 people in the UK have a form of dementia, more than half have Alzheimer’s disease. In less than ten years a million people will be living with dementia. This will soar to 1.7 million people by 2051.
So how are we gonna help out?
The plan is to cycle 379KM from London to the Brussels Beer Festival over three days, arriving on my birthday for a beer at the festival. We then get the following day to enjoy the festival/city before heading home.
Registration for the challenge is £99 with a fundraising pledge of £1,300 each to the Alzheimer’s Society. All your food and travel are covered as well as ride support throughout the challenge from Discover Adventure.
This is a cause really close to my heart and I would love for you all to join me. Not only will it be great fun along the way, raising money for a great cause, but one hell of a party once we get there ;-)
