Great Manchester Run 2018 · 20 May 2018 ·

GMYN supports young people who face significant challenges, including looked after children; young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and young people facing mental health challenges. GMYN helps young people transition to adulthood feeling skilled, supported and positive.

Story

This is my first 10k run! I'm running for the Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN),

GMYN's vision is #YoungPeopleCan. The GMYN team helps disadvantaged young people who are in/leaving the care system, disabled, unemployed or are otherwise socially isolated.

By giving vulnerable young people the chance to meet and socialise with other young people and take part in activities that they might not otherwise get to do, GMYN helps them to feel safe, valued and ambitious, whilst developing important (and often taken for granted) life skills.

Young people who are isolated shouldn't be left isolated. Everyone deserves an equal opportunity and if there are organisations out there trying to level the playing field and give everyone opportunities, we should be supporting them!
