Anyone who knows me, will know that how important cycling is to me.

Cycling has enabled me in many different ways: physical, practical, financial and emotional.

My cycle journey started in the Meon Valley in the hot summer of 1976, The only way to attend a job interview was on my mother’s Sturmey Archer bike, considering I was a recovering anorexic this must have been quite a challenge! But it was freedom.

Today cycling is still a challenge, I live one of the hilliest places in Southern England. But I am proud that, in my 60’s I am still able to enjoy cycling. It is still freedom but in a different way.

My motto has always been ; can I cycle this journey? Today, with the worry of climate change this is even more important.

I ride the Dartmoor Classic, not just for the event itself, but for the motivation to stay fit and healthy. Please will you give a donation for my efforts so that The Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team can continue to protect those who need their help.
