Story
Our beautiful mother Odette Younane passed away on the morning of Wednesday 23rd November after a 12 year battle with Alzheimer's.
Taking the journey with mum was hard but it would have been impossible without the support of Alzheimer's Australia, who helped me understand what this illness was all about and reassured me that I was not alone.
I was so inspired by the support I received from this organization, I decided to become an ambassador.
The work they do to support families and communities is inspiring and I knew I had to be a part of it.
Alzheimer's does not discriminate, we will all at some stage be affected by this illness and we must continue to fight to find a cure and help support those living with the disease and their carers.
I have learnt so much about this illness and know my mother received the best care and lived with dignity because I made it my job
to find out all I could about the many stages this disease travels through.
My mother never lost her smile and I have so many beautiful memories that I will treasure.
I encourage everyone who needs support, information and guidance to contact the Alzheimer's Australia Helpline on 1800 100 500. You don't have to go through this alone.
Please donate through this secure JustGiving page and help Alzheimer's Australia continue the great work they do.
Thank you so much for your kindness.
Doris Younane
