We support York Special Care Baby Unit to provide specialised equipment & training

Story

In just 1 month our teeny tiny 2lb 3oz baby boy Oakley turns 1 year old!

What better way to celebrate than giving back to York SCBU. For Oakley's 1st Birthday, instead of presents we are asking friends and family to instead please make a donation to York Special Care Baby Unit Support Group. Even a £1 or £2 instead of the cost of a card would be much appreciated.

The support group is a registered charity. They provide and assist in the provision of specialised medical or surgical equipment and improved amenties including education and vocational training. A lot of the funding for York SCBU actually comes from the support group (not the NHS like many would think) and so they rely heavily on donations and fundraising.
York Special Care Baby Unit is a local level 2 neonatal unit and provides care for premature and sick newborns and newborns requiring observation or extra assistance. They can care for upto 15 babies including 2 intensive care beds as well as high dependency.

Upon his arrival from Jessops Wing NICU in Sheffield where he was born, Oakley then spent many of the first few weeks of his life in York SCBU, where he received such amazing care until the point he was ready to come home. The staff on the unit and neonatal outreach team are abosultely amazing! We cannot thank them enough for the hard work they do 💙
