Story
The Old Red Wall Club was established in 2009 as a way of maintaining strong friendships. Each year the Club aims to raise as much money as we can for a Charity through several challenging events. This year we are proud to be sponsoring SNAP.
SNAP (Special Needs And Parents) is a wonderful charity based in Essex that provides help to families who have children and young people up to the age of 25 with special needs and disabilities. They aim to inform, encourage and support the parents and carers so that they can provide the best possible care for their children. This is done by providing activities for the children to take part in together with the parents, or the parents are free to seek advice and make use of their specialist library and other resources.
It's very difficult to sum up just how much this charity does so please follow the link on this page to their website if you would like to find out some more.
As the first half of 2013 draws to a close, here is a summary of the events we have taken part so far:
24th March - 4 members successfully completed their first half marathon at the Brentwood Half Marathon - all of them crossing the finish line in under 2 hours... Regardless of the Snow that was still fresh on the ground!
4th May - 5 members made the trip to Kettering despite the rain, wind, and hail stones to take part in the London North Tough Mudder Challenge. They were mentally and physically put through their paces throughout the 13 mile course which included swimming through ice baths, electrocution with 10,000 volts, and wading through waist high mud pools.
24th May - Dan H and Toby S made their Boxing debut after a year of hard training. Both the lads made it to the third round with Dan drawing plenty of blood from his opponent to be crowned Champ, and Toby winning by knockout. Fantastic results against very skilled opponents, videos of both bouts can be seen on YouTube!
8th - 12th July - Our endurance machine, Josh R, will be running 5 marathons in 5 days around the Essex and London area! Each day he will be accompanied by one of the other guys. This is an incredible feat to be undertaking, not to mention painful! He is frequently running for more than 3 hours an evening in preparation. Please contact any of the boys if you'd like to get some details to come along and support!
Please keep an eye on this page as we will be updating it often with the new events and challenges that we are undertaking to raise money for SNAP.
All donations are welcome and we thank you very much for supporting this fantastic charity.
