Story
OKMT trustees, staff, therapists, volunteers, clients and supporters will be walking round the Tamsin Trail in Richmond Park (7.3 miles) on 14th November to raise funds for our 30th Anniversary Appeal. OKMT is based in the Borough of Richmond and provides music therapy and music projects for over 340 people with disabilities or long-term health conditions.
"Thank you OKMT for arranging such fantastic music sessions to keep us motivated when we go through so many difficulties in real life."
OKMT provides music therapy for people of all ages, many of whom have been particularly isolated by the pandemic, to improve their quality of life. We support the development of children and young people with additional needs and help them reach their potential. 70 children and young people with disabilities attend our OK Music School, learning to play an instrument and perform in concerts, gaining huge confidence. 15 have even passed music exams. We help adults with learning disabilities, mental health issues or neurological conditions, and elderly people with dementia, to express themselves and have improved mental well-being, through the power of music.
"I felt included and the therapist understood my feelings and helped me to process them"
