Story

Hi. I’m Azaan Sarwar. My fellow pupils and I at Belmont House School have launched a campaign to provide free breakfasts to schools across Glasgow for the whole of 2021, having being inspired by footballer Marcus Rashford.

We need to raise £70,000 to deliver free breakfasts for a full year to schools in Glasgow. Magic Breakfast have committed to match our fundraising pound for pound. That gives us a target of £35,000.

Across the UK, 1.8million school age children are at risk of starting the day hungry, which has a serious impact on their educational attainment, attendance, energy levels, and behaviour.

Nearly one in four Scottish children live in poverty, with 65 per cent of all children in poverty living in households with at least one person in work – a crisis which has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

We ask you to please take the time to think about those young children who have to go to school on an empty stomach and hungry. Let’s end child hunger!

Please donate generously so, together, we can make sure no child is too hungry to learn!
