I ain't no natural born runner. But I do like a goal. And in a moment of madness, post running a half marathon and buzzing from the 'runners high' I applied to SportsAid for a place in the Virgin London Marathon 2013.  

London 2012, in all it's Danny Boyle-lead glory, had a huge influence on my decision.  I shouted and screamed on the morning of the 'super saturday' at my TV just like the adverts on the tube told me to.  And GB triumphed. And kept on going. I remember walking to a friend's house when Mo was runnig his heart out and Jess Ennis had won gold and the houses I passed were errupting with shouts of encouragement. It was amazing.  Have we ever been so proud of ourselves as then?

So that's why I want to do it for SportsAid. They make those dreams become a reality and push a talent into the spotlight which, without the support of this charity might not get the chance to shine.  Jess Ennis, Sir Chris Hoy, Sir Steven Redgrave and Sir Ben Ainslie have all been supported by the charity and through their discipline and complete dedication to their sport have put GB firmly on the sporting map.  

Not sure I'm destined for Rio 2016 but I can at least try and apply some of that awe inspiring focus which they displayed last summer because seeing all those sports men and women excelling in so many sports made me scratch an itch of mine which I always though was a pipe dream. My aching calves, lack of serious hangovers, and pavement pounding in some ferocious weather is definietly telling me it might not be so.

So please, even it's just £1 - push me a bit further towards the finish line and I will absolutely show you how shouting at the TV a bit louder turned a watcher in to a runner (hobbling along the way).
